艺术家传记

克里斯蒂娜·索萨·诺列加 is a painter, marketer, writer, mother and proud native San Antonian. Although best known for her My Loteria series of 54 oil paintings that re-created the 图像s and symbols of the classic Mexican Loteria, she started her career in advertising, meeting her husband Victor at local agency, 布罗姆利通讯. In 2008, the Noriegas moved to rural West Texas and founded the Murphy St. Raspa有限公司. in Alpine, Texas -- an homage to Tex-Mex art, culture and of course raspas (shaved ice). 四年后, they returned home and Cristina became the Marketing Director for the DoSeum, 圣安东尼奥的新儿童博物馆.

In 2017, Cristina was one of ten artists to be selected by the 圣安东尼奥 Department of Arts and Culture to participate in a local public art mentorship course. That summer she completed her first large-scale public art project. The mural is now part of 圣安东尼奥's world heritage public art initiative located steps from Mission Espada, one of the 圣安东尼奥 missions recently designated a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage site. Today Cristina works for the 圣安东尼奥 Independent School 区 Foundation and spends her weekends doing portraits and hand-painted signs. 在过去的两年里, she has completed signs for Feliz Modern, 奇卡佛, Traveler Barber Shop and Tillage -- all local small businesses. Cristina looks forward to pursuing more public art opportunities while continuing to celebrate the people and places of her hometown through portraiture and murals.

艺术家声明

Having grown up in 圣安东尼奥, my artwork has always been influenced by my Mexican heritage. In 2005 I spent a year re-creating the Mexican Loteria, updating it to reflect the symbols and culture I knew - the "Tex Mex" version. The My Loteria game and corresponding line of kitchenware appeared in H-E-B grocery stores and boutiques around the country.

Through the years my art has evolved to include large-scale public art murals, sign-painting and other creative endeavors. 目前, I work for the 圣安东尼奥 ISD Foundation, so I'm mainly doing smaller art projects on weekends and evenings while also balancing being a mom to two amazing daughters. I am finding a lot of joy in sign painting, which is how my father started his career. Something about hand-painting a logo on the wall of a local mom and pop shop feels immensely gratifying. 购买本地产品,支持本地产品.
